Difference Between XF vs XC Lenses

Difference Between XF vs XC Lenses

The Fujifilm XF lenses are typically marketed towards professional photographers, they are of higher quality, metal construction and metal mounts, wider apertures, typically wider than f2.8, most of them have weather sealing, faster focusing motors, have aperture rings and better glass. They are almost all made in Japan, the exception being the Fujinon XF 27mm f2.8, the pancake lens from Fujifilm. If they are sold as a part of a kit you will often find them bundled with Fujifilm X-T3, X-E3, X-T4, X-Pro3

All XF lenses have Super Electron-Beam Coating (EBC), unlike some of the XC lenses.

The Fujifilm XC lenses are more budget-friendly, most of the time they are sold as a part of a kit, especially with the cheaper cameras from Fujifilm, like X-T200 and X-A7, X-T30, typically they are made of plastic, have smaller apertures, no aperture rings, and they are smaller and lighter.

The XC series of lenses are mostly zoom type, with the exception of one lens, the XC 35mm F2.0, a lens that has the same optics as the XF 35 f2.0, the XF is made out of metal.

As an ex. Pentax(film), Nikon, Canon, and Sony, user, now I’m converted to Fujifilm completely, I can say that this XC series of lenses from Fujifilm, even if they are marketed as kit/beginners/compact lenses, the quality is better compared with other lenses from other brands marketed towards amateurs, you get the professional quality out of the most of them but at a fraction of the price.
